Contract electronics assembly is a service that provides an excellent solution for companies seeking support in the production of various types of equipment and components – both on a smaller and larger scale. Thanks to a specialized machinery park and a qualified team of specialists, the order is carried out quickly and comprehensively. Check what the details of this type of cooperation are.
.
Contract electronics assembly – what is it?
.
Contract electronics assembly, or Electronic Manufacturing Services (EMS), involves contracting an external company specializing in the production of electronic components or entire electronic devices for a specific service specified by the customer. This makes it possible to realize high-quality production without the need for an in-house machine park.
A company specializing in EMS assembly will make both individual components and entire devices – depending on the specific requirements and needs of the customer. The great value of this type of service is not only the final product itself, but also what the process looks like. In fact, the electronics assembly service is not only the manufacture of a specific device, but also the design of the most optimal production process, multi-stage assembly, quality testing and extensive design assistance. Specialized know-how is the key to success in this case.

Electronics assembly services – step by step
.
In order to better understand what electronic circuit assembly carried out by specialists is all about, it is useful to know a detailed plan for the implementation of this type of order.
Preparing the project
.
Preparing the project is the first stage from which any EMS cooperation begins. The potential client is required to send full documentation, which includes such information as BOM, technical drawings, gerbers or Pick&Place. This will allow specialists to catch possible errors and suggest more optimal solutions. This is also a necessary step that allows us to create an authoritative production quote.
Development of prototypes
.
After preparing the design together, it is necessary to proceed to the development and creation of prototypes. Importantly, our specialists not only deal with the design issue, but also advise on the selection of the best components and are responsible for ordering them. Next comes the assembly of PCBs (Printed Circuit Board), also known as printed circuit boards. At this stage, the choice of a particular method plays a rather important role. Depending on the requirements of the project, the assembly of electronics can be done by THT (Through-Hole Technolgy) or SMT (Surface-Mount Technology). Each will work well for a particular type of project.
- ThT assembly is also called through-hole assembly and involves placing individual components on a circuit board through special conductive holes and then soldering them on the other side of the board. Components assembled using this method are characterized by high stability and allow relatively easy modifications or repairs. However, this type of method does not work well for devices that are intended to be as small as possible – THT assembly takes up more space on the board.
- SMT assembly allows individual electronic components to be placed on the PCB without drilling holes and soldering, as is the case with THT. The circuits created can therefore be denser, so that the final product meets the requirements of miniaturization.
After the prototyping stage, the entire process is further optimized, and individual errors are eliminated.
Quality tests
.
Customers of our company can also count on the highest possible level of quality control. Due to the volume of production and the complexity of the manufactured equipment, the quality control we offer is carried out fully automatically. We use a modern AOI (Automatic Optical Inspection) device, which, by means of image registration, compares the product to a preloaded algorithm – if an error is detected, the device generates a special report on the type of error and the degree of criticality. In this way, we can be sure that the devices produced are of the highest possible quality, and the customer is not exposed to higher costs associated with the appearance of a defective product for sale.
Mass production
.
After the prototype has been approved and all major tests have been carried out, mass production can proceed. The finished product is labeled and transported to the place chosen by the customer. Our specialists will take care not only of programming and testing, but also of servicing, warehousing and general logistics of the produced equipment.
Contract assembly with EMS Elektronix
.
Our company has been engaged in contract assembly of electronics for years. We offer comprehensive support at every stage of production and individual approach to the customer. We will help you refine the design, select individual components, prepare production, purchase parts, and even logistics and warehousing. Our advanced machinery allows us to undertake even the most complex projects – we have as many as two assembly lines and one line dedicated exclusively to prototype projects. The highest quality of production is supervised by an AOI quality control machine, and a modern soldering robot eliminates the human error factor.
