SMD assembly
Our customers can also count on carrying out professional SMD electronics assembly. This type of service allows you to place the appropriate components on a printed circuit board. Our technological capabilities allow us to place components in 0201 enclosures with a frequency of 20 thousand elements per hour. This allows us to produce up to 4 million components per month.
SMD assembly – what does it consist of?
SMD assembly, or Surface-Moint Devices, involves placing electronic components directly on the surface of a PCB. This type of solution allows us to mount components without drilling holes or soldering. As a result, we can create more dense electronic circuits that meet the objectives and requirements of a given design.
Complete SMD assembly – step by step
Offered by us SMD board assembly is a process that is fully automated. Our machinery allows the assembly of electronics performed at the highest level.
First, we take care of the proper preparation of the PCB. Then we mark the areas where SMD components will be applied and protect the areas free from assembly.
First we prepare the PCB with the appropriate preparation.
Following that, we apply special solder paste in the areas where SMD components will be mounted. Then, using special pick-and-place machines, SMD components are precisely placed in the designated areas. The entire process is carried out according to the design specifications. The board with the applied components is put into a special oven – as the temperature rises, the solder paste begins to melt. It is then cooled down in order to create permanent electrical connections between the previously installed components and the board.
Finally, the board is cleaned of any residual solder paste. In order to deliver the highest quality product possible, we also carry out all quality checks to eliminate the creation of any defects or irregularities.
Why opt for SMD electronics assembly?
SMD assembly is a method that is widely used during the implementation of various types of projects. Its great popularity is mainly influenced by a number of benefits that determine the satisfaction of customers.
Small size of components
This type of method allows very dense placement of individual components on the board. Because SMD components are much smaller than THT, this type of assembly allows more complex and functional circuits to be created on smaller sized boards.
Thermal performance
Many builders also choose SMD assembly because of its better thermal efficiency. During the soldering process, we can control the thermal process, which is especially important when using components that generate a lot of heat.
High throughput and reduced production costs
It is also worth remembering the production time itself – due to the full automation of the process, the assembly itself takes place quickly and efficiently. Our production lines allow us to stack components with 0201 housings at a rate of 20,000 components per hour, so we can produce up to 4 million components per month. This is a truly impressive throughput, which at the same time ensures relatively low production costs.
Small equipment size and shock and vibration resistance
SMD assembly is also a great choice for projects where the final size of the device plays a big role – because SMD components are small in size and allow for dense placement, devices assembled using this method tend to be small, which is crucial, for example, when manufacturing consumer electronics such as smartphones or laptops. Because the assembly is done directly on the surface of the wafers, SMD components are also more resistant to shock and vibration, minimizing the risk of mechanical damage.
Lower electrical properties
This is especially important for high-frequency circuits – SMD assembly allows better impedance control of signal paths.
